The Sczepanski Research Group at Texas A&M University seeks a Research Assistant to support ongoing projects in mirror‑image biology. The Research Assistant provides skilled technical, administrative, and research support, assisting with multiple phases of experimental studies. Responsibilities include helping prepare proposals for funding agencies, operating and maintaining research equipment, and supporting laboratory and field personnel. The role also involves active collaboration with other members of the research team to advance project goals.
Opportunities to Contribute
Conduct high‑quality experimental research in the field of chemical biology while adhering to the highest ethical and professional standards.
Analyze experimental data and contribute to its dissemination through participation in group meetings, preparation of manuscripts, reports, scientific presentations, and grant proposals.
Deliver clear and effective presentations of research findings at group meetings and other appropriate scientific forums.
Provide guidance and technical assistance to fellow lab members, serve as a mentor to students, and help maintain laboratory instruments in accordance with established safety protocols.
Qualifications
Appropriate Bachelors in a related field.
Must be able to perform work associated with the project.
A well-qualified candidate for this position will also possess:
Prior experience with SELEX methods and basic knowledge of chemistry and bioinformatics workflows in preferred.
Knowledge of computers and computer software related to the position.
Knowledge of laboratory maintenance and equipment.
Attention to detail.
Salary: Compensation will be commensurate based on the selected candidate's education and experience.
Special Note: Due to this position’s salary having all or a portion of it being funded by grants or contracts, the continuing salary and overall employment is contingent upon availability of these funds in the future.
