We are an interdisciplinary lab that utilizes an engineering approach to study biological problems and design potential interventions. We specialize in structure-based protein engineering and use a combination of high throughput platforms paired with conventional cell sorting and deep sequencing. Many of our projects span multiple labs here at Scripps that have complementary skillsets and/or relevant biological models. We also work close with Calibr, the translational division at Scripps Research focused on therapeutic development. Our current efforts include working on antibodies for HIV, malaria, and snake bite envenoming as well as to understand (and potentially treat) autoimmunity and immune modulators.
