Job Summary
Under the direction of the Revenue Cycle Director, this pivotal role manages the operational and administrative functions of the 24/7 Patient Access Department. This includes supervision of some staff and coaching of other staff in all registration departments. Our focus is on providing excellent customer service, enhancing patient satisfaction, staff development, and achieving fiscal goals.
Responsibilities
· Must be able to manage multiple assignments and manage a variety of tasks to ensure deadlines are managed.
· Willingness to work collaboratively with clinical teams.
· Must understand Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, EMTALA, to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical and professional behavior.
· As the Patient Access Manager, you will collaborate with all clinical departments and providers to proactively enhance the patient experience while meeting and complying with all local, state, and federal regulations.
· Provides coaching and training to all registration staff to enhance the patient experience and overall customer service.
· Oversees and ensures the smooth functioning of the patient access department across various locations including hospital and Clinic locations.
· Manages and coordinates daily tasks of the department.
· Evaluates performance, competency, and training needs of all staff.
· Is responsible for developing policies and procedures for all registration staff.
· Manage financial aspects of the department by providing annual budget information; monitoring expenditures; identifying variances; implementing corrective actions.
· Assures accuracy of patient data and fiscal information by conducting and reviewing daily audits of previous day's patient data and fiscal information.
· Serves and protects the hospital community by ensuring adherence to professional standards, hospital policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements.
· Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; participating in professional societies.
· Enhances patient care delivery system by implementing admissions function interface with the nursing and professional staff, implementing admissions functions with the emergency room, out-patient clinic registration, outpatient surgery, and other special care units.
· Accomplishes department human resource objectives by selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising job contribution.
· Meets admissions operational standards by contributing information to strategic plans and reviews; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; identifying system improvements.
· Actively engage in quality improvement activities.
Physical Requirements
Perceive the nature of sounds by the ear, express or exchange ideas by means of spoken word, perceive characteristics of objects through the eyes, extend arms and hands in any direction, seize, hold, grasp, turn, or otherwise work with hands, pick, pinch, or otherwise work with fingers, perceive such attributes of objects or materials as size, shape, temperature, or texture; and stoop, kneel crouch, and crawl. Must be able to lift 25 pounds maximum with frequent lifting, carrying pushing, and pulling of objects weighing up to 10 pounds. Continuous walking and standing. Must be able to identify, match, and distinguish colors.
Requirements
Minimum Requirements
· High School Diploma or equivalent.
· 2 years of hospital admissions experience.
· 2 years of leadership experience.
· Basic computer skills.
Preferred Requirements
· Associate degree from an accredited institution.
· Supervisory experience is strongly desired.
· EPIC system experience
