Overview
The Competitive Landscape Intern will develop a thesis for an area of interest for the Planetary Health team. This will involve quickly understanding their assigned market, the problem facing that space, the technical methods to solving that problem, and the entities commercializing those technologies. The Competitive Landscape Intern will also work with the Data Analytics intern to support broader Planetary Health team workflows.
Candidates must be eager to experiment with ways to incorporate AI into their work to be more efficient and effective. RA Capital is looking for people who are proactive about using AI where possible, looking for new tools and even creating new tools; AI is transforming our work, and we are specifically looking for AI-forward people to ensure that we are leveraging these tools to make us as effective as possible. This is a full-time Boston-based paid internship.
Responsibilities
- Develop a competitive landscape analysis or “map” on a Planetary Health topic, including scoping, background literature research, conducting interviews with experts or other key players in the space, and synthesizing this information into a short and easy-to-read summary.
- Distill key insights and present progress throughout the internship during team feedback sessions.
- Support internal workflows by collaborating with team members on research and pipeline management as needed.
Background/ Experience
- Must be willing to be based locally in Boston this summer and be able to work on a hybrid schedule in our local office
- Masters or MBA Candidate with a background in a technical field (e.g., engineering, chemistry, biology) with exposure or interest in economics or finance
- 1-2 years of professional experience
- Clear interest and/or prior experience in Planetary Health
- Ability to use a market-based approach when evaluating technologies and be open to new and orthogonal ways of thinking
- Experience leveraging AI in either a project or work-related setting
- Ability to communicate complex analyses and results clearly
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and project management skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
