Subsurface Utility Engineering Technician

The Opportunity

Ulteig is seeking talented and motivated candidates for an experienced Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) Technician. The Subsurface Utility Engineering Technician is responsible for designating and locating all types of utilities in rural and urban areas.

 

What You'll Do

The Subsurface Utility Engineering Technician will be responsible for locating utilities using geophysical equipment for Quality Level A and B projects. The candidate must be able to utilize survey total stations, Trimble GPS receivers, and data controllers to collect data for the mapping of the projects. The candidate will coordinate with traffic control providers, utility owners and clients in the field. The candidate must be able to measure and determine size and type of various utilities as designated in the field and have a working knowledge of the 811 system.

 

What We Expect from You

• High school diploma.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience.
• Survey experience necessary.
• Experience utility locating as they relate to municipal, DOT, energy, renewable wind, and solar projects preferred.
• Thorough understanding of ASCE 38-22 guidelines.
• Able to interpret and comprehend design plans and utility records.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Obtain all required safety certifications (OSHA 10/30, Confined Space, TWIC).
• Demonstrated ability to operate all subsurface utility equipment (Electromagnetic Locators (RD 8100/8200, MetrotechVM810, Schonstedt, Flex Trace, Etc.) Ground Penetrating Radar, Etc.)
• Demonstrated ability to operate all survey field equipment (GPS, Robotic Total Station, data controllers, Etc.)
• Supervise and oversee crews employed for Vacuum Excavating for Quality Level A potholes.
• Experience in Microsoft Software Applications (Word, Excel)
• Must be willing and able to travel 75% of the time.
• Must have authorization to work permanently in the US
