Summary of Job Duties:
The Extra Help/Parking Assistant is responsible for providing unskilled, semi-skilled labor or performing basic tasks in a state agency or institution. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency policy.
Qualifications:
Required Education and Experience
The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma;
Must possess a valid driver's license.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Patrol assigned areas on foot or in a vehicle to monitor parking regulations and identify violations such as expired meters, illegal parking zones, and unauthorized use of handicapped spaces;
Issue citations for parking violations, ensuring to accurate record the make, model, color, and license plate number of the offending vehicle, along with the specific nature of the violation;
Utilize handheld devices or ticket machines to print parking tickets, ensuring that each ticket is filled out with complete and accurate information;
Monitor and report any suspicious activities or safety hazards in parking areas to the appropriate authorities, contributing to overall public safety.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of ticket writing equipment;
Ability to operate ticket writing equipment;
Ability to remain calm and try to de-escalate angry customers about parking violations.
