The Department of Management & Entrepreneurship in the Haslam College of Business at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, invites applications for a full-time Lecturer position with an anticipated start date of August 1, 2026. This is a non-tenure-track renewable appointment designed to support high-quality teaching across the department’s curricula.

This position is part of the department’s teaching faculty and is intended for individuals who are passionate about teaching, applied learning, and preparing students to think strategically, exercise sound judgment, and lead effectively in data-rich and technology-driven organizational environments.

The department seeks a versatile educator with substantial professional or applied experience who can contribute to the teaching of strategic management, introductory management, and the effective use of emerging technologies, particularly artificial intelligence, in managerial decision making. While the department’s greatest instructional needs are in core management and strategy topics, candidates with backgrounds in consulting, corporate strategy, analytics, technology-enabled organizations, or innovation-driven industries are especially encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will primarily teach undergraduate courses while also supporting selected graduate programs as needed.

Salary for this position is competitive.

Responsibilities

The primary responsibility of the Lecturer is excellence in teaching and student engagement.  Teaching assignments will vary based on departmental needs and the candidate’s areas of expertise. The department seeks educators who can contribute in one or more of the representative teaching areas below, though the successful candidate will not be expected to teach across all areas listed.

Most teaching will occur at the undergraduate level, with occasional opportunities to contribute to graduate programs. Candidates should exhibit evidence of effectiveness in collaborative, team-based teaching environments, or a willingness to participate with coordinated courses, including weekly meetings with other faculty. Candidates should also have experience or be willing to teach with simulation software.

Additional responsibilities may include:

  • Contributing to course development and continuous improvement of the curriculum, which may include weekly team meetings and/or occasional training/refresher events for coordinated courses
  • Supporting experiential learning activities and applied projects
  • Participating in departmental service activities and collaborative initiatives that support the department’s teaching mission

The department particularly values candidates who integrate emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, into management education in ways that strengthen students’ ability to analyze information, make decisions, and lead in modern organizations.

 

Qualifications

 

Required Qualifications

  • An earned master’s degree or terminal degree, plus significant professional or teaching experience relevant to strategy, management, analytics, or related areas 
  • Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching business or management-related subjects
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to engage students in applied, discussion-oriented, and case-based learning environments 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Significant professional experience in consulting, corporate strategy, analytics, technology-enabled organizations, innovation, or related leadership roles
