Job Description: Staff and Research Psychologist
We are seeking a passionate and mission-driven psychologist to lead Nema’s research function as well as to provide direct patient care in trauma EBPs. This role reports directly to the Clinical Supervisor for direct patient care, and works directly with the Chief Medical Officer on research development.

Role Description:
Clinical Care:
- Provide up to 20 hours of direct patient care, including groups
- Conduct thorough and accurate patient diagnostic evaluations
- Treat PTSD and related conditions using evidence-based psychotherapies
- Effectively triage patients to admission or provide appropriate referrals based on their clinical needs and the resources available
- Assist in care coordination efforts & logistics with the administrative team
- Ensure that accurate and precise documentation records are maintained
Research:
- Design and implement studies specifically for publication
- Publish research in academic journals and present findings at conferences via poster presentations
- Partner with Product, Marketing, and Operations to generate evidence that informs product development and go-to-market strategies
- Lead the analysis of Nema's clinical data
- Monitor all ongoing studies to ensure compliance with the Institutional Review Board (IRB)
- Represent Nema externally by presenting research findings at conferences
Operational Support:
- Provide after hours phone back-up support for one night a week
Qualifications
Required
- PhD in psychology
- California licensed or Psypact
- CPT-Trained
- Expertise in trauma-informed care and evidence-based therapeutic techniques other than CPT, such as, DBT, EMDR, or PE
- Ability to offer specialized knowledge for working with specific populations or integrating CPT with other therapeutic approaches
- Outstanding clinical skills, including “webside” manner, diagnostic ability and CPT delivery
- Strong analytical, communication, and leadership abilities
- Outstanding written communication skills
- Organized, reliable, and can operate autonomously on core duties
Preferred
- Training in DBT
- Training in other trauma-focused modalities, such as PE or EMDR
- Experience running
- Experience working at an early-stage company
