Compensation: $16.50 / hour
Description
NYPL IT provides technology services to the organization and supports back-office and public-facing activities. Information Technology includes technical teams focusing on infrastructure and applications as well strategic product and business alignment functions. The Page will work with various IT teams depending on project needs and interests.You will have access to the Library Page Fellowship Program as a Library Page. A career growth development program that empowers youth as they shape their careers. The Program provides resources to help develop career readiness skills, explore career goals, and provide on-the-job coaching, training, and mentorship. The library page position is scheduled for 19 hours per week. Schedules are variable based on library needs and may be subject to change.
Key Responsibilities
We are looking for someone we can count on to:Own:
- Task-specific work assigned by team leads
- Reporting of status on the work assigned
- Communication with IT clients as needed
- Discuss work and lessons learned with colleagues
- Various IT functions as needed including operations, systems administration, security, networking, reporting, project or product management, etc.
- Supportability of the solutions we provide.
Some expectations for this role are that within:
1 month, this person will:
- Be familiar with IT practices and teams, roles & responsibilities
- Learn how IT provides value to NYPL and its patrons
3 months, this person will:
- Perform routine tasks independently
- Escalate for support when necessary
6 months and beyond, this person will:
- Focus on core area of responsibility following discussion with IT leadership
Responsibilities:
- Perform tasks as assigned by IT leadership
Required Education, Experience & Skills
Minimum Qualifications- Must have High school diploma or GED.
- Must be currently enrolled in a degree program at an accredited university.
- Proper employment certificate for minors under 18 as required by NYS law
- Good communication skills
- Able to work in a team environment
- Able to multitask
Required Skills
- Familiarity with basic computing concepts
- Comfortable using Windows/Macs and common Office applications
