Group 1 Automotive is hiring Lube Technicians for our Shawnee Mission dealership locations, including Shawnee Mission Kia and BMW/MINI of Shawnee Mission.

As a Lube Technician, you'll perform essential maintenance services that help keep customer vehicles safe, reliable, and running at their best. You'll gain valuable hands-on experience working alongside experienced technicians while developing the technical skills needed to advance within the dealership.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance services including oil changes, tire rotations, fluid exchanges, filter replacements, and other scheduled maintenance procedures.
  • Complete comprehensive multi-point vehicle inspections to identify maintenance needs and help ensure vehicle safety, reliability, and performance.
  • Conduct digital vehicle inspections, including photos and video documentation, to support transparent communication with customers.
  • Accurately document inspection findings, maintenance recommendations, and service results using dealership technology and reporting systems.
  • Work alongside experienced technicians to develop technical skills and gain hands-on experience with modern vehicle systems.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work area while properly caring for tools, equipment, and customer vehicles.
  • Safely operate vehicles and equipment while adhering to manufacturer guidelines and dealership quality standards.
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and environmental regulations to maintain a safe workplace.
  • Promptly report damaged, unsafe, or malfunctioning equipment to management.
  • Deliver exceptional service by supporting dealership goals and demonstrating professionalism, teamwork, and a customer-first attitude.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver license.    
  • Basic understanding of automotive systems (engine, brakes, tires, fluids)
  • Ability to perform routine maintenance services, including:
  • Oil and filter changes
  • Tire rotation and pressure checks
  • Fluid checks and top‑offs (transmission, coolant, brake, power steering)
  • Battery testing and replacement
  • Visual inspections of belts, hoses, and filters
  • Familiarity with basic hand and power tools
  • Ability to follow manufacturer and shop service procedures

 

In addition to competitive compensation, we offer:
  • Hourly Pay Range: $16.00–$17.00 per hour
  • Pay Type: Non‑exempt, hourly position
  • Compensation will be based on relevant experience, skills, and qualifications 
  • Overtime: Paid in accordance with federal and state law for hours worked over 40 in a workweek.
