Overview

East Penn is currently seeking a Manager, Fleet Planning, who will be responsible for managing order fulfillment, planning and dispatch teams to ensure the efficient and most cost-effective use of our transportation options (private fleet or contracted carriers) while not sacrificing the high level of service East Penn Manufacturing Co. is known for. This role will oversee the effective planning and execution of the fleet and evaluating and selecting the optimal mode for shipping in support of the ~$176MM in outbound freight and fleet backhauls.

Responsibilities

• Manages a diverse team of multiple functions consisting of centrally located and remote employees; mentors and coaches providing guidance regarding expectations, performance, EPM policies and procedures• Oversee the department by adhering to the East Penn culture and managing Safety, Service, Quality and Cost• Build an effective team by recruiting, training, mentoring, recognition and accountability • Leads the department to deliver optimal business results through accurate order planning, best mode decisions for outbound freight, reductions in miles through efficient planning and ensuring optimal execution through dispatch activities • Develops and manages effective KPIs to support an evolving business; presents KPIs as needed to various departments• Evaluates and analyzes metrics for trends; provides recommendations to senior leadership on how to adapt the business, as needed• Provides recommendations to strategic internal partners (sales, distribution, manufacturing) to improve service and/or reduce costs• Manages the effectiveness of the TMS software (Descartes, FPA) to provide business results expected• Manages the security and accuracy of internal (East Penn) and external (Customer) master files relative to the department• Manages the processing of orders into and out of the TMS

  • Ensure orders are processed properly into the TMS and outbound shipments are planned, communicated to shipping, and executed by transportation teams
  •  Manages the efficient planning and execution of the scrap battery process
  • Communicate results/feedback throughout the organization as needed
  •  Performs other duties as requested.

Qualifications

Experience & Qualifications• 3-5 years of related experience in a distribution or manufacturing environment, required• 3-5 years of experience with transportation planning software• 3-5 years of experience supervising or managing people for success Preferred:• East Penn work experience that includes extensive knowledge of EP procedures and practices • Knowledge of planning, manufacturing, loading and shipping procedures• Working knowledge of Trimble TMS products and/or Descartes TMS products

Education/Certification

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in related field, preferred; equivalent level of education, training, and experience may be considered
