As an Environmental Health & Safety Process Safety Advisor, you will serve as a full member of the EHS R&D team which includes providing EHS business partner support to R&D and be part of the site emergency response team. This position partners with the Process Safety Manager to ensure equipment and systems with major accident hazard potential are identified and the relevant process safety reviews are completed. Ensure EHS considerations are incorporated into relevant capital and site minor works projects. You will be responsible to ensure all workplace transport requirements are implemented at the Upper Merion and Upper Providence Sites.

This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career, these responsibilities include some of the following…

  • Ability to perform gas calculations for both asphyxiation and toxic gases to ensure the proper engineering controls are in place.
  • Ensures high risk work activities to the business are effectively identified and managed by the provision of industry leading technical innovation and support.
  • Partners with the Process Safety Manager to ensure that the Process Safety Program delivers value to the business via increased workplace safety, reduced environmental impact and increased regulatory compliance.
  • Represent the interests of GSK in key external policy forums.
  • Champion the interests of stakeholders within the business (RDES, R&D and PDH) in GSK EHS policy and strategy development
  • Shaping change in the external environment is a key job factor.  Ability to manage complexity and uncertainty in rapidly changing situations is required.  Autonomous decision making is often essential.
  • The breadth and number of activities directed by this position necessitates strong prioritization skills and the ability to manage tasks concurrently.  Many of these tasks are initiated by the job holder; others come from internal customers and other stakeholders external to GSK. Deadlines are negotiable, but the job holder is required to make independent decisions as necessary.
  • Position interfaces on a regular basis with all GSK business sectors.
  • Prepare, plan and deliver environment awareness and promotion events.

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 1+ years of experience in Environmental Health & Safety
  • Knowledge of core Health and Safety Principles and regulations
  • Experience working on a COMAH facility
  • Working knowledge of emergency and change management procedures

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Post Graduate Degree
  • Experience in pharmaceutical research or manufacturing where compliance to defined level of standards is required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with continuous improvement initiatives
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in line and matrix teams
  • Experience working in positions requiring strong customer focus
