This position has an end date of 08/31/24, renewable based upon availability of funding, work performance, and progress toward goals. Funding is expected to continue. This is a federally funded position sponsored by the Texas Child Mental Health Care Consortium (TCMHCC). TCMHCC was created by the 86th Texas Legislature to leverage the expertise and capacity of the health-related institutions of higher education to address urgent mental health challenges and improve the mental health care system in this state in relation to children and adolescents.

The University of Texas, Dell Medical School (DMS), is a Health Research Institute (HRI) for the Texas Children’s Mental Health Care Consortium. The program and projects of the Dell Medical School, HRI work to address the clinical needs of the programs which address urgent mental health challenges and improve the mental health care system in Texas for children and adolescents.

This position will be assigned off-campus and work will be performed effectively entirely off campus at a personal residence within 75 miles of a university owned/leased property. This position may be expected to be at a primary campus location the same day, if required, for some in-person work such as, but not limited to, training and development, staff retreats, emergency support services, and/or team building. Remote work will require reliable internet access and a suitable workspace free from distractions. A flexible working arrangement agreement will be required upon offer.  

Purpose

This position will provide mental health therapy to children, adolescents, and family members American Rescue Plan (ARPA) funded projects through the Texas Child Health Access Through Telemedicine (TCHATT) program at Dell Medical School. The therapist will possess strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with patients, ability work independently with a strong attention to detail, effective oral and written communication skill, and will possess a commitment to professional ethical and practice standards. TCHATT provides telemedicine or telehealth programs to school districts to help identify and assess the behavioral health needs of children and adolescents and provide access to mental health services.
 

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates and provides diagnostic impressions. Formulates treatment plan according to evidence based practices and protocol. Conduct individual, family and group therapy sessions as needed. Monitors patients for suicidal/homicidal intent and ensures patient safety if necessary. Undertake crisis intervention, as needed.

  • Participates in any supervision, feedback, and quality assurance checks. Maintains client records and performs data entry as required by protocol.

  • Coordinates with referring practitioners, individuals, and family members throughout the treatment.  Collaborates with project coordinators and administrative assistants to coordinate patient visits.

  • Attends appropriate training workshops, interdisciplinary meetings and client staffing as required. Participate in clinical supervision and oversight of clinical activities for pre-licensure team members, consistent with applicant’s own licensure and experience. 

  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Master's degree with major coursework in the field of assignment is required. Upon hire, License to practice mental health counseling independently in the State of Texas, LPC License. Three (3) years of post-licensure counseling, or related clinical experience is required. Experience working with children, adolescents, and family systems. Strong technological skills and ability to perform computer tasks and utilize electronic health records independently. Ability to work remotely as needed. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with patients. Ability to work independently with strong attention to accuracy and detail. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated commitment to professional ethical and practice standards.
