We are seeking a candidate to join Global Mile (GM) for the role of Business Analyst, Exports Strategic Planning. The GM Exports Strategic Planning team is looking for a Business Analyst to join the Strategic Planning function for Amazon’s cross-border B2C shipments. In this highly visible role, this person will help create a best-in-class transportation network for the North American marketplace to deliver packages to international customers by leading initiatives that ensure long-term capacity throughout the supply chain can meet projected demand. This role is essential in supporting an evolving and fast-growing exports business and designing strategic planning and forecasting improvements.
As a business analyst, you will serve as the subject matter expert on presenting data in an informative and actionable way to facilitate productive, cross-functional dialogue. You will support the Planning and Operations team by developing data sources and metrics, formatting easy to consume reporting, building analytical models, understanding existing challenges with data and how they can be presented differently to influence change to deliver against key business goals. You will collaborate with our centralized Business Intelligence and Data Engineering team to leverage existing data structures, and developing access to newer data needed to inform business decisions and program roadmaps.
A successful candidate enjoys problem solving, is comfortable accessing and working with big data from multiple sources, and is enthusiastic about partnering with other teams across the business to deliver results. You should have an internal drive to challenge the status quo, excellent analytical skills, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills. You should be a self-starter, comfortable with ambiguity, naturally curious, and be involved in the details. You will work in a fast-paced environment and will have an opportunity to publish findings, updates, and data driven recommendations to senior leadership.
Key job responsibilities
- Lead design and execution of business analytics for strategic planning.
- Build data visualization reports and tools for self-service consumption of data.
- Analyze and extract relevant information from large amounts of both structured and unstructured data to help automate and optimize key processes.
- Define the business problem and solution approach autonomously, to drive cost, speed and capacity improvements.
- Analyze and validate data to ensure high data quality and reliable insights.
- Partner with data engineering teams to improve data assets, quality, metrics and insights.
- Proactively identify opportunity areas for deep dive investigations and future program development.
- Prioritize and balance multiple high-level projects and process improvements that seek to improve network capacity and forecast accuracy.
- Translate complex or ambiguous business problem statements into analysis requirements.
- Solve ambiguous analyses with less well-defined inputs and outputs; drive to the heart of the problem and identify root causes.
- Derive recommendations from analysis that significantly impact a department, create new processes, or change existing processes.
- Communicate complex analytical insights and business implications effectively.
- Actively manage the timeline and deliverables of projects, focusing on interactions in the team.

- 1+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
- Experience defining requirements and using data and metrics to draw business insights
- Experience with SQL or ETL
- 1+ years of experience using complex Excel functions, such as VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and macros
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Economics, Engineering, Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics or a related field
- Experience using very large datasets
