About the role

SUMMARY: 

Primary function is to supervise a variety of general warehouse activities and support staff. Onsite role in Laredo, TX.

*Must be proficient in Spanish and English*

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Warehouse Operations Leadership:

  • Direct and oversee all aspects of daily warehouse operations.
  • Ensure smooth coordination between departments to meet production and shipping goals.
  • Identify inefficiencies in processes and recommend and implement improvements to increase productivity and accuracy.
  • Monitor workflow to ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
  • Allocate resources effectively to meet shifting demands.

Outbound Shipment Management:

  • Supervise the picking, staging, and loading of outbound shipments, ensuring accuracy in quantity and product selection.
  • Verify shipment approvals and ensure correct carrier assignment and dispatch in a timely manner.
  • Troubleshoot any issues that arise during the outbound process to ensure minimal disruption.

Inbound Shipment Supervision:

  • Oversee unloading, staging, and accurate labeling of inbound shipments.
  • Ensure that all OS&D (Over, Short & Damaged) issues are reported and resolved promptly.
  • Maintain up-to-date records in the warehouse management system (WMS) for all inbound shipments.

Equipment and Trailer Oversight:

  • Ensure proper organization and maintenance of trailers and warehouse equipment.
  • Schedule routine maintenance and safety checks on all equipment to ensure safe operation and compliance with regulations.
  • Monitor equipment usage and recommend repairs or replacements as needed.

Special Project Execution:

  • Coordinate and manage special projects, ensuring timely and cost-effective completion.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute projects aimed at improving warehouse operations.

Inventory Control & Cycle Counting:

  • Lead daily cycle counts, oversee inventory reconciliation efforts, and ensure accurate stock levels.
  • Develop and implement best practices for inventory management, ensuring discrepancies are addressed promptly.

Employee Supervision and Development:

  • Supervise and develop warehouse staff, ensuring proper training, skill development, and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Conduct regular performance appraisals and provide coaching to enhance productivity and team cohesion.
  • Assist with hiring, onboarding, and continuous training programs to maintain a skilled workforce.

Safety & Compliance:

  • Ensure full adherence to safety standards and company policies across all warehouse activities.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and implement corrective measures as needed.
  • Ensure all employees are properly trained in safety protocols and regulatory compliance.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records and reports on all warehouse operations, including daily activities, performance metrics, and incidents.
  • Generate reports for upper management and recommend improvements based on data-driven insight

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Training & Experience):                          

High school diploma or G.E.D. required and four (4) years work experience of which two (2) years would have been in supervising personnel in the area of warehouse in a public or private organization, including experience in personnel management, budgeting, or procurement.

Forklift certification preferred and operate an order picker.

LICENSE AND CERTIFICATIONS:  (If license(s) or certification(s) is required to practice a trade or profession, you must attach a copy.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of the safety and legal procedures for handling and receiving goods.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Knowledge of general buildings and warehouse work practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of general warehouse cleaning procedures.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain accurate records regarding shipment work.
  • Ability to practice safety procedures for all equipment used.
  • Ability to effectively manage time, resolve crises, strong leadership and motivational skills with effective team building capabilities.
  • Ability to maintain good planning, excellent managerial and organizational skills.
  • Ability to follow instruction and work independently with limited supervision.
