As an RN on this team, you will guide and support patients undergoing surgery in an ambulatory setting. It will be your job to screen the patient as well as set up pre-op appointments and perform pre-anesthesia testing. This is a great opportunity to expand your skill set and work in a variety of different surgical services. Your role will be crucial in creating a positive patient experience. Additionally, the Cleveland Clinic system provides nurses with many professional development resources, including furthering education and online/in-person courses to enhance your skills.
A caregiver in this position works days from 7:30AM – 5:00PM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Provide professional nursing care in an ambulatory setting.
Assess health status, complete nursing assessments, perform telephone triage and establish care plans.
Administer medications and treatments.
Initiate CPR and other emergency measures.
Notify the physician and/or Licensed Independent Provider (LIP) of abnormal findings.
Assist with specialized diagnostic procedures, therapeutic procedures and specialized patient care equipment.
Develop, evaluate, adapt and document health education and provide it to patients and families.
Cover other nursing roles within the department.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate from an accredited school of nursing (ADN or BSN program)
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within six months of hire in areas performing moderate sedation procedures and/or cardiac stress testing
