Job Summary
The Service Technical Content Supervisor will work with global stakeholders to package industry leading service content for web and print publication to support new programs and sustaining business. Service content includes operator manuals, service manuals, technical reference materials, quick reference guides, and technical training curriculum. The Supervisor will aid, train, and supervise a team of internal and external Technical Authors. The Technical Authors will work in the PACCAR Component Content Management System (CCMS), with the goal of maximizing content re-use and consistency across all PACCAR content. The Supervisor also oversees content translation with an outside firm. In addition, this role will identify opportunities for continuous improvements both in product and in processes.
Here's what you will do in this role:
- Manage the entire service content process from end to end
- Supervise Technical Authors
- Track and report progress and completion on service content deliverables for new programs and sustaining business to meet deadlines
- Provide Technical Publications input into key program capital budget process
- Collaborate with Program Management, Engineering, and Technical Publications teams and other stakeholders across PACCAR on key program deliverables
- Work with Technical Authors to write technical content into a structured xml format using PACCAR’s CCMS
- Identify and create graphics for the authors to incorporate into the content
- Review/edit service content and contribute to support legal and translation needs as necessary
- Ensure that product documentation is produced and published in a timely manner and adheres to PACCAR’s style guidelines and standards of accuracy, thoroughness, readability, usefulness, consistency, and organization
- Understand the technical aspects of our products and create documentation that helps our customers find solutions to their problems quickly
- Publish service and warranty content to dealer portal
- Design and publish PDF forms
- Performs other duties as assigned
Required Skills:
- Four-year college degree required, with an emphasis on Business or Engineering preferred
- Strong organizational, schedule management, time management and reporting skills
- High level of initiative and demonstrated use of proactive problem solving approach
- Excellent communication skills
- Working knowledge of HTML, XML publishing, and structured authoring
- Understanding of single source writing, minimalism style authoring, XML re-use of topics, and topic based writing
- Solid mechanical aptitude
- Strong interpersonal skills and a team player
- Must be able to work with a diverse set of stakeholders and manage multiple tasks concurrently
- Occasional travel may be required depending upon the project (up to 5%)
- Flexible work hours but may require some early start or late end times depending on the project
Preferred Skills:
- Previous automotive/dealership hands on experience and/or manufacturing experience/product knowledge
- Project management experience
MS Office tools experience including, Access, Excel, SharePoint and OneNote
