Description
The mission of Correctional Managed Care is to address the healthcare needs of underserved patient populations within the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and the Texas Juvenile Justice Department.
JOB SUMMARY:
Provides advanced support for human resource-related operations with limited supervision. Communicates and provides guidance on human resources services, initiatives, and programs to customers. Conducts daily activities in Human Resources.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Assists the HR manager in the supervision and performance of HR business administration.
- Provides advice, guidance and technical support to assigned departments on complex issues requiring subject-matter expertise.
- Works collaboratively with peers to initiate system enhancements and new initiatives.
- Investigates and actively seeks resolution to problems and concerns.
- Monitors progress of important initiatives and key activities.
- Proactively responds to customer requests in a timely manner.
- Responsible for developing and conducting various HR related in-services and presentations, such as onboarding, Time & Attendance, etc.
- Performs all support activities in accordance with required security protocols.
- Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure established for department.
- Performs related duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Ability to perform tasks on own initiative with "minimal" guidance while exercising discretion and judgment.
- Developing HR professional.
- Basic knowledge of Human Resources and employment law.
- Developing partnership and general understanding of the customer's business and current issues.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
- Developing presentation and facilitation skills.
- Basic to moderate level of impact and influence with customers.
- Moderate analytical and problem solving skills.
- Moderately competent use of personal computers and general office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Outlook.
- Demonstrated initiative in developing leadership and supervision skills.
- Strong attention to detail and problem resolution skills.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple assignment simultaneously.
EQUIPMENT:
Standard office equipment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Remote work. May require onsite visits to a prison, jail or juvenile detention center. Some travel required, including overnight stays. Security clearance is required; pre-employment drug testing is also required.
Qualifications
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
- Two (2) years directly related HR experience.
Salary is commensurate with years of relevant work experience.
