Cloud Operations + Innovation (CO+I) is the team behind one of the World’s largest Cloud Infrastructures, responsible for powering all Microsoft online Products and Services as well as powering Microsoft’s “Cloud First” mission. Our focus is on smart growth, high efficiency, and delivering trusted experience to customers and partners worldwide, and we are looking for a Datacenter Engineering Senior Site Due Diligence (SDD) Design Manager to help achieve our mission and to help build the cloud datacenters that power the world’s largest online services.  

 

The Datacenter Engineering Sr. SDD Design Manager will manage the engineering scope, schedule, and budget for greenfield and brownfield sites, with a focus on site due diligence and site selection, and early grading design.  This position will manage internal and external resources for the delivery of the datacenter building, including master planning, feasibility studies, and infrastructure planning to align with Microsoft Corporation datacenter capacity roadmap for the Americas.   

 

The Datacenter Engineering Sr. SDD Design Manager will be responsible for the facilitation and delivery of Microsoft’s industry-leading datacenter designs, including the development of innovative technology and advanced concepts in site due diligence to be used as the basis for future design. This role will provide design management, technical direction, decision-making and overall leadership for our site due diligence projects. To be successful in this role, the candidate will oversee the delivery of multiple, concurrent SDD and early grading design projects with a focus on scopes, schedules, and budgets of the projects.  The Datacenter Engineering Sr. SDD Design Manager will engage with key MS stakeholder groups within Microsoft, as well as outside vendors who specialize in datacenter architecture and engineering



Responsibilities
  • Coordinate a team of architects, engineers and designers and deliver projects aligned with the defined scope, schedule, and budget.     
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, organize tasks, and lead teams or projects. 
  • Proficiency in commercial and industrial architecture and civil engineering with a primary focus on datacenter design.     
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical teams in dynamic environments.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years' experience in geotechnical engineering, civil engineering, or technical program management
    • OR equivalent experience. 
  • 2+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
