Head of Data Excellence and & Data Insights Platforms

Join AstraZeneca’s IBEX (Innovation and Business Excellence) team to elevate data‑driven healthcare decisions across Central Europe. We’re seeking a Head of Data Excellence & Data Insights Platforms to turn public health and stakeholder data into trusted insights and scalable analytics products that shape Medical, Commercial, Market Access, and IBEX strategies.

You will lead the creation, maintenance, and improvement of exploratory and predictive models, proactively scan the external environment for actionable data opportunities, and translate business questions into robust data definitions, analyses, and dashboards. You will curate high‑value datasets from authorities, embed best‑practice standards in data quality and governance, and provide hands‑on coaching and task leadership to Data Scientists and Data Specialists. Operating across CEEBA markets, you will drive re‑usable data solutions and common platforms that deliver consistency, compliance, and value at scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Healthcare insights delivery: Translate complex healthcare datasets into clear, trusted insights that inform strategy and stakeholder decisions.
  • Analytics solutions: Coordinate the implementation of analytical and visualization solutions within defined project scopes, leveraging BI tools, cloud services, and reporting capabilities of ERP/CRM/database platforms.
  • Regional representation: Represent the CEEBA region in global and regional initiatives on data platforms and analytics; provide expertise in exploratory, descriptive, and predictive analytics to cross‑functional projects.
  • Project leadership: Lead mid‑sized data projects across CEEBA markets, ensuring timely, reliable outcomes.
  • Analytics & dashboards: Produce clear, reproducible analyses and dashboards using SQL plus R or Python and Power BI, delivering simple outputs that support decision making.
  • Data discovery & stewardship: Monitor public data sources (e.g., NZIP, SUKL, NEAK, NCZI) and maintain an up‑to‑date catalogue of datasets, metadata, and access requirements.
  • Data access & governance: Draft and manage official data access requests and documentation for authorities (e.g., UZIS, NEAK), ensuring compliance with legal, privacy, and governance standards.
  • Stakeholder engagement: Serve as a trusted partner to IBEX, Medical Affairs, Commercial, and Market Access teams; translate business questions into precise data requirements and query definitions.
  • Documentation & reproducibility: Maintain clear documentation of datasets, code, queries, assumptions, and deliverables to ensure outputs are reproducible and auditable.
  • Team scope: Manage a team of approximately 3–5 people; act as a matrix manager on projects and a manager of a team.
  • Regional remit: Operate across 2–3 countries for at least 40% of your time.

Your profile

Essential:

  • Master’s degree in mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Statistics, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
  • Passion for healthcare data and its impact on patient outcomes and health systems.
  • Database fluency: familiarity with SQL and NoSQL.
  • Analytics & visualization: experience with R or Python for analysis and data prep; Power BI or Tableau for visualization.
  • Insight communication: advanced ability to draw conclusions from data and present outcomes in a digestible way to commercial and medical stakeholders.
  • Communication: clear written and spoken communication; ability to explain data topics simply.
  • LanguageNative Czech and advanced English.
  • Ways of working: organized, proactive; strong tracking of tasks, requests, versions, and decisions.

Desirable:

  • Authority engagement: experience submitting data requests to UZIS, NCZI, NEAK, HIF.
  • Healthcare data literacy: familiarity with ICD‑10/MKN‑10, WHO codes, DRG, registries, and claims.
  • Statistical basics: comparisons, trends, cohort definitions, and code‑list development.
  • Power BI depthDAX beyond basics.
  • External collaboration: experience working with hospitals, public institutions, or academic partners.
  • Technical environment: comfort with high‑performance computing or cloud environment
