Job Duties

Work Hours: 10:30am - 7:00 pm, with weekend work, required.

This position prepares appetizing, nutritious, quality food for the patients of SWVMHI, staff and guests of the Employee Café and Catering functions. Follows posted menus, standardized production recipes and food production worksheets. Follows the strict guidelines and standards for wholesome and quality food production, serving and storage established by state regulations, Joint Commission and the HACCP guidelines. Attractively arranges and correctly portions food items on patient trays according to printed tickets and cycle menu. Cleans and sanitizes facility, fixtures and equipment following established procedures and posted schedules.

Ability to read, comprehend and carry-out written and verbal instructions. Capacity to learn and perform cleaning and sanitation procedures in a safe and efficient manner. Ability to stand for extended periods, lift moderate (10-40 lbs.) loads, bend, stoop and carry objects. Capability to work in a hot, humid environment. Aptitude to work as a contributing team member and customer service focused. Ability to work in a secure and locked environment with individuals who are experiencing acute symptoms of mental illness and/or additional forensic/legal involvement.

Minimum Qualifications

Sufficient education or training to be able to demonstrate ability to read and understand written menus, recipes, and other instructions

Additional Considerations

Prior experience in a commercial or institutional food service facility is desirable but not required.
