Description of Work

Reporting to the Associate Warden for Custody, this position provides supervision of subordinate staff and is responsible for the custody and security of the facility, and the safety of the general public. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Key Duties Included:

- Ensure that all custody staff assigned to the facility are physically and mentally capable of assuming a duty post.
- Provide daily inspections of offender living, medical, and kitchen areas.
- Evaluate weapons and other security equipment are inspected and in good working condition.
- Supervise daily counts, reviewing staffing needs and Standard Operating Procedures to make suggestions for revisions, as needed.
- Complete, review, and maintain time reports, duty rosters, leave schedules, performance evaluations, and administrative forms.
- Conduct investigations and serving as the Officer-in-Charge (OIC), as required.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Salary Range: $50,088.00 - $87,654.00

The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:

  • Documented experience with report writing.

  • Documented knowledge of Prison Policies and Procedures/or Facility Operations.

Facilities are categorized by custody levels (minimum, medium, close) and house individuals serving sentences for felony convictions. The division provides safety, security, and rehabilitative services through trained custody staff, program facilitators, and administrative personnel.
