The Office of the Vice President of Technology and Chief Information Officer (VP CIO) is seeking a highly organized, strategic, and dynamic Director of Operations to provide daily management and support for the VP CIO’s extensive portfolio at the University of Texas at Austin. A successful candidate for this role requires:
- Proven experience as a trusted advisor and strategic partner for a CIO and leadership team.
- A combination of project management, communication, and analytical skills to support a large and complex IT organization.
- Strategic mindset to help drive planning, support and organizational initiatives that foster a positive workplace culture and that build strong relationships across a vast IT community.

Purpose
Reporting to the University's Vice President of Technology and CIO, the Director of Operations is an essential member of the senior leadership team, providing oversight of daily operations and executive level support to the VP CIO and units reporting to the Office of the VP of Technology and CIO.
Responsibilities
Oversee the daily operations of the Office of the VP of Technology and CIO and serve as a strategic thought partner to the VP CIO and the senior leadership team on objectives, priorities, issues and risks, and all administrative related matters.
Oversee multiple functions within the Office of the VP of Technology and CIO, to include (but not limited to) communications, project management office, and the administrative teams.
Design and oversee the creation of the Office of the VP of Technology and CIO. Align design to the strategic needs of the Office and the University.
Manage flow of issues, projects, and problems. Provide independent analysis and judgement in prioritizing situations needing attention and take steps to ensure projects are moved forward and tracked for progress through completion.
Serve as the VP CIO’s gatekeeper, supervising the management of their calendar and ensuring the VP CIO is well prepared for meetings and other internal and external organization or committee affiliations, demonstrating strong organizational and interpersonal savvy for
