The Director of Enterprise Risk Management is responsible for providing strategic direction and supporting the development and implementation of a risk management governance framework and related policies/guidelines. This position works with all departments and subject matter experts to ensure a consistent and integrated approach that aligns to the overall risk management mandate applied to risk governance. Additionally, this role is accountable for monitoring the risk/control environment and consults on risk mitigation plans to ensure that exposures are kept at acceptable levels. Lastly, this role may participate in and support internal and external audits, regulatory reviews, and rating agency requests.
- Lead staff and initiatives that support risk management programs, to include: governance support, risk oversight, risk infrastructure development, and identification, quantification, and aggregation of key/emerging risks and/or operational risks and controls.
- Partner with key stakeholders in the business and oversee the identification, assessment and documentation of risks and controls, including risks associated with new or modified products, services, distribution channels, regulations, and/or third-party operations.
- Lead teams in the development of risk dashboards and reporting formats in alignment with risk appetite/profile.
- Lead teams in formulating risk management policies, procedures and standards in conjunction with senior leadership and risk management committees; implement said policies and ensure ongoing compliance with these policies.
- Through a team, monitor and develop the Risk Profile Report to ensure the metrics and attendant thresholds/limits are reflective of the external/internal environment and the enterprise’s risk appetite.
- Act as an internal subject matter expert and develop organization capability around risk governance and decision processes aligned with the enterprise’s operating model and risk strategy.
- Through a team, support the development of the Internal Control Framework and ensure implementation and ongoing compliance.
- Lead teams in recommending and implementing processes to enhance the ERM function and related internal and external reporting; monitor changes to regulations associated with ERM from national and local stakeholders.
- Manage and coordinate risk activities across business units to ensure standardization and flow of information.
- 12+ years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; 3+ years leading teams.
- Experience implementing an ERM function highly preferred.
- Excellent organizational/time management and project management skills.
- Strong leadership skillsets, including the ability to develop a team/individuals and achieve outcomes through a team.
- Critical thinking skills with the ability to be flexible and creative.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify issues and evaluate business solutions.
- Comprehensive understanding of regulatory requirements applicable to insurers and managed care organizations.
- Knowledge of enterprise policies and procedures.
- Solid understanding of Delta Dental’s business and corporate culture, locally and enterprise-wide.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to assess, develop and implement systems, processes and procedures which enable the corporation to achieve compliance with state and federal mandates.
Base Pay Information
The national base pay range at the end is a good-faith estimate of what Delta Dental may pay for new hires. Actual pay may vary based on Delta Dental’s assessment of the candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities (KSAs), related experience, education, certifications and ability to meet required minimum job qualifications. Other factors impacting pay include prevailing wages in the work location and internal equity.
Pay Grade 24. $122,400 - $265,100
