URM Stores is seeking a results-driven and detail-oriented Senior Network Engineer with a passion for designing and maintaining fast, reliable, and secure network infrastructure. This role requires deep technical expertise in building and optimizing enterprise-scale networks, along with a proactive approach to troubleshooting and performance tuning. The ideal candidate combines hands-on experience with strategic thinking to ensure seamless data flow, robust performance, and a network environment that operates at peak efficiency.
Whether troubleshooting complex BGP or OSPF configurations, updating complex network documentation, or resolving persistent packet loss issues, you will bring deep technical expertise and a solution-focused mindset to every challenge. With proficiency in Cisco and other emerging network technologies, you will effectively manage and optimize multi-vendor environments. Known for your composure under pressure and commitment to uptime, you also maintain a strong focus on resiliency, redundancy, and security.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist in the development and execution of network strategies aligned with the company’s long-term technology roadmap, including planning for capacity, scalability, and redundancy. Act as a “senior consultant” with the knowledge and hands-on skills to get things done.
- Architect solutions that can handle high levels of traffic, meet latency requirements, and optimize for performance.
- Manage large-scale network projects such as upgrades, expansions, and migrations. Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
- Continuously assess network capacity, usage trends, and future needs. Ensure the network is capable of scaling to meet growth in traffic, user demand, and new application requirements.
- Assist as an escalation in the day-to-day operations requests of various network changes such as IOS upgrades, firmware, software system versions, etc.
- Assist in troubleshooting and problem analysis in unplanned outages.
- Participate in URMs weekly change control meetings and coordinate network changes when necessary.
- May be required to occasionally work after hours or weekends for initiatives/projects.
- Serve in an on-call rotation with other IT peers.
Qualifications:
- BS in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or demonstrable equivalent experience level required.
- Prior advanced experience and understanding of network/routing concepts, project and vendor management.
- Advanced-level technical experience in IP networking and route/switch concepts. Experienced in most facets of L1-L4.
- Ability to understand and implement route protocols (BGP, OSPF) required.
- Cognizant of Multi-WAN aggregation, co-location, DR, SD-WAN, and future emerging technologies.
- Advanced experience in packet capture and analysis is required.
- Candidate must be able to work multiple projects simultaneously and efficiently.
Preferred Qualifications:
- One or more of the following certifications: CCNP/CCIE, ACSA, Network+, Fortinet.
- Experience in retail environments desired.
- “Security First” mindset with Fortinet firewall experience highly desired.
- Advanced knowledge of the design of network architecture using Cisco, Aruba, Meraki products.
- Experience in Cisco Callmanager or Microsoft Teams is desired.
- Experience in data center, MDF/IDF power and cabling design.
- Candidate must have highly effective troubleshooting, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Candidate must be able to work effectively on a team and collaborate with individuals of varying skillsets.
