Job Description
Position Overview
The KIPP NYC Manager, Compliance is an essential role on the Student Support Services (SSS) Team that will manage the compliance, billing, and related operations essential to our Special Education and English Language Learners programs. This role will also support the SSS Leaders with administrative operations, data entry, and compliance monitoring. This is an ideal position for a candidate who has excellent demonstrated abilities in information management, document creation and retention, and communications in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a passion for serving KIPP NYC students.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage ELL compliance:
- Coordinate annual NYSITELL and the New York State English as a Second Language Achievement Test (NYSESLAT) assessments, including supporting schools in ordering & administering and regional scoring
- Support Student Support Services (S3) teams and regional data teams in pulling, reviewing, and determining action steps needed from Report for Language and Achievement (RLAT) and Report for Language Eligibility Roster (RLER) reports
- Support schools in carrying out required accommodations in classrooms.
- Support in planning and leading professional development opportunities for school-based leaders to ensure they are ready for all compliance systems and structures related to students who are ELLs or students with IEPs.
- Support with annual reports regarding progress and programming for students who are ELLs.
- Maintain school Asana pages for tasks related to ELL compliance.
- Manage Special Education compliance:
- Support S3, SST Operations, and all schools for bimonthly Special Education billing and other check-ins as needed.
- Support rapid and thorough responses to internal and external audits
- Document communications between KIPP NYC, NYC DOE departments, and employment agencies for related services
- Participate in weekly meetings with DOE Office of Related Services
- Share and update monthly reports for testing accommodations, related services, and program recommendations
- Provide basic SESIS support for schools
- Support schools to progress monitor students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), 504 Plans, and receiving evidence-based interventions in Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS)
- Support additional needs from all KIPP NYC Shared Services Team (SST) departments including Equity/Social Work, Data, Operations, and Legal
- Facilitate annual report data and narrative compilation as needed
- Maintain school Asana pages for tasks related to SpEd compliance
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- 4+ years of work experience in non-profit or education
- Meticulous attention to detail with an ability to produce high quality work in a dynamic environment
- Demonstrated success with building trusting and responsive relationships by adjusting communication to diverse audiences, engaging proactively—especially in challenging situations—and demonstrating empathy, self-awareness, and appreciation for others.
