About the role

Essential Job Duties:

  1. Serves as subject matter expert on quality requirements and measures.
  2. Performs ongoing/concurrent chart abstraction and data entry for quality measures on a quarterly basis, with a timely completion/submission process that meets TJC and CMS guidelines.
  3. Abstracts and monitors concurrent data and identifies discrepancies as defined by quality initiatives.  Collaborates with associated staff members to develop interventions and quality improvement plans for the required data.
  4. Supports the development and implementation of quality improvement interventions. Performs chart reviews and assists in resolving deficiencies impacting plan compliance to regulatory and accreditation standards.
  5. Assists in the review process for special studies indicated by the department director in response to organizational need and/or requests.
  6. Identifies streamlining and process improvement opportunities in the data collection process.
  7. Participates in quality improvement activities and actively seeks educational resources that enhance and maintain current knowledge and skills.
  8. Collects data for physician review, contacts physicians, and schedules review process, prepares chart data/peer review forms.
  9. Assists with the aggregation of physician activity data for use in the Medical Staff reappointment process.
  10. Notifies the department director regarding any adverse occurrences discovered in the screening process.

Secondary Job Duties That May be Reassigned:

  1. Performs other related duties as assigned by the department director.
  2. Provides direction and collaboration with team members to support a healthy work environment.
  3. Serves as an educational resource for internal and external customers as needed.

Job Specifications:

  • Education: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Experience: Graduate from an RN or LPN Program with three years of hospital nursing experience. Quality review experience is preferred.
