Project Title: Asian Cohort for Alzheimer's Disease (ACAD)

Position Title/Summary: Research Program Manager (RPM) 

The RPM will be responsible for ensuring proper implementation of the project work plan. The RPM will facilitate communication among members of the study team, assist the Principal Investigator (PI) in preparing monthly and annual reports and handing all data obtained in Korean and will participate in the work of manuscripts. The study involves recruiting approximately 800 participants aged 60 years or older with Korean ancestry from northeast areas of the U.S. We will collect DNA and plasma biomarkers and genotypes from all participants using SNP arrays, and use validated, translated data collection forms and clinical/diagnostic protocols. 

Duties and Responsibilities

●       Coordinating translation of English documents into Korean

●       Liaise with stakeholders, collaborators, site coordinators, recruiters, and Korean ethnic news media to build trust and ensure that all parties are included.

●      Oversee participant compensation and participant compensation logs

●      Refine and implement tracking protocols to maintain high follow-up and retention rates

●      Develop surveillance registry for potential research participants, schedule and coordinate data collection and monitor participant enrollment and retention

●      Organize community outreach activities and assist the PI to develop educational manuals, stories for the Korean news media, and posters in Korean and English

·       Assist with other general office duties (e.g. schedule team meetings, copying, filing, and organizing research documents)

·       Support research administration as needed and perform other related activities as required.

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary for this position is $82,400. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Qualifications:

This position requires a person bilingual in Korean and English. The PI and research team is looking for a dependable individual who possesses a strong work ethic, strong interest in working with older people in health research, and strong professional communication, organizational and detailed oriented skills.

a) Minimum required education: BA/BS in health, higher education, management, or social work in Korea or the U.S.

b) Minimum required experience: minimum of three years of Korean community outreach experience.

c) Language skills: Bilingual in Korean and English (able to work on the Korean version of the health survey for dementia)

d) Experience interacting with high-level executives

e) Capable of working with confidential information

f) Experience with data gathering, evaluation/reporting, and project deliverable/timeline tracking

Preferred Skills:

a) Experience working with volunteers and Korean American older adults in a community environment

b) Good communication skills and ability to work with Korean American older adults as well as to run an effective online meeting

c) Formal education in Korea and the U.S.

d) Experience working with people with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia or their family members

e) Strong problem-solving skills, ability to follow through and great organizational skills

f) Proficient with computer-based applications such as MS Office, Excel, PowerPoint, video-conference platforms (e.g., ZOOM), and data capture systems.
