This opportunity resides with All-Domain Operations (ADO), a business group within HII’s Mission Technologies division. All-Domain Operations comprises multi-domain operations, platforms and logistics, and intelligence operations.

Summary
The Software Engineer designs, develops, documents, tests, and debugs software applications and systems that rely on logical and mathematical solutions. This role engages in multi‑disciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and hardware engineers to support the planning, development, and use of electronic data‑processing systems for both product and commercial software. The engineer analyzes user needs, evaluates system capabilities, and develops operating instructions, compilers, utility programs, and operating systems. Additional responsibilities include maintaining software performance, ensuring compliance with standards, implementing open‑systems approaches such as the Future Airborne Capability Environment (FACE), and executing technology insertion activities to enhance system capabilities.

What you will do
- Design, develop, document, test, and debug applications software and systems based on logical and mathematical models.
- Conduct multi‑disciplinary research and collaborate with hardware engineers and equipment designers on electronic data‑processing systems.
- Determine user needs and analyze system capabilities to resolve issues related to program intent, outputs, inputs, programming techniques, and controls.
- Develop operating instructions, compilers, assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems.
- Conduct software maintenance activities to improve performance and reliability.
- Ensure software meets established engineering and quality standards.
- Analyze user needs and software requirements to evaluate feasibility within time and cost constraints.
