- Compensation: $18.00/hour

Intern, People & Culture
The goal of our internship program at American Public Media Group is to offer guidance, training, and mentorship to early career candidates so they can gain industry experience. As the People & Culture Intern, you will focus on supporting important and impactful initiatives that drives the work of People & Culture within the organization. Through this 12-week immersive experience, you will be an integral member of the talent acquisition team assisting in marketing our employer brand at national diversity conferences and providing research on outreach of our indigenous population in the state of Minnesota. Additionally, in line with our program's objectives, you will have the opportunity to gain exposure to various aspects of the People & Culture team by assisting with a variety of critical/meaningful projects such as policy/procedure review, compensation structure work, and other foundational experience in People & Culture.
This dynamic role calls for an open-minded individual who is eager to apply their classroom education to make a direct impact on the work we do within the People and Culture team.
Key Learning Goals:
The goal of this internship is to provide immersive learning and real-world experience through impactful projects. Goals include:
- How to effectively market open positions and enhance employer brand on social platforms
- Build analytical skills to determine the effectiveness of social media campaigns to recruitment strategies
- Network and build relationships with other national & local Think Public Media partners through weekly conference calls
- Develop cultural awareness and competence through research and conversations on tribal colleges
- Gain knowledge about various people and culture policies and procedures by reviewing and updating them in the handbook. This includes understanding their legal implications and their alignment with company values and culture
- Build upon their communication skills through verbal and written communications to gather information or clarify policies and the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely
- Ability to spot errors, inconsistencies, or outdated information and update them as needed
Responsibilities:
- Marketing employer brand on social media and at national diversity conferences. Assist in building out an approach to social media that will elevate our employer brand and highlight our open roles
- Research on outreach opportunities to our indigenous college student population in the state of Minnesota
- Updating APMG’s employee handbook so that policies and procedures are updated and relevant

Required Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in and have completed one year of a 2–4-year undergraduate degree. program, OR are enrolled in a graduate degree program OR have earned a degree within the last 12 months.
- Currently pursuing or have earned a degree in human resources, communications, or a related field.
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite of Tools including: Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an eye for detail and creativity.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Ability to seek out clarification and comfort in asking questions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous work experience or internships in Human Resources
