Pharmacy Technician - Full Time

Position Overview:

The Certified Pharmacy Technician assists the Pharmacist in the provision of pharmaceutical services to inpatients, outpatients, and various hospital departments. This position is also involved in pharmacy data processing, inventory control, and other duties within the department.

Essential Functions:

a) Assists in the preparation and dispensing of medications under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.

b) Helps maintain proper storage, packaging, and quantities of inventory throughout the hospital.

c) Participates in the maintenance of proper computer medication profiles, daily reports, and billing of medications.

d) Refills Pyxis Med Stations accurately and timely.

e) Prepares sterile products under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.

f) Performs unit medication inspections.

g) Maintains pharmacy technician certifications.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and use hands along with fingers, to handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

Requirements:

· High school graduate or GED equivalent.

· The ability to read, write, and speak English fluently. The Technician must possess good verbal and written communication skills.

· Pharmacy technician certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board, or equivalent, is required within one year of employment if not received by date of hire.

Preferred Experience, Skills and Abilities:

· Competency in sterile product and chemotherapy preparation.

· Previous experience as a pharmacy technician, hospital preferred but not required.

· Basic computer skills.

· Ability to prioritize tasks and effectively work through problems.

Must have one year of Pharmacy Tech experience to qualify for the sign-on bonus.
