About the role

The Training & Safety Sr. Specialist is responsible for developing and executing programs focused on operational training that prioritizes safety to improve efficiencies and retention within the distribution network.  The Training & Safety Sr. Specialist designs and directs a safety program to reduce accidents, occupational illnesses, and exposure to long term health hazards through training of supervisors, managers and newly hired team members. 

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Create, coordinate and conduct training programs for operations trainers and team members  
  • Conduct compliance training programs for OSHA standards. 
  • Maintain and update OSHA logs to ensure compliance with safety regulations and accurate record-keeping. 
  • Complete and submit OSHA 300, 300A and 301 reports in accordance with regulatory requirements.  
  • Work with managers, supervisors and operations staff to identify causes of past accidents to outline training opportunities to avoid risk in the future. 
  • Conduct safety audits and inspections at the distribution centers. 
  • Review and disseminate accident and injury statistics and create reports for corporate management. 
  • Utilize loss data to develop and implement loss control and loss prevention programs in applicable business units to minimize losses and injuries. 
  • Manage, review and revise compliance programs as needed to conform to federal and state regulatory agency requirements. 
  • Conduct and document (including DOT-required Accident Register) accident reviews for transportation. 
  • Preside over and maintain minutes of Accident Review Board. 
  • Review and report on the Fleet Management System for MHE(InfoLink). 
  • Work with operations, maintenance and engineering to develop administrative and engineering solutions to improve processes and training to reduce fatigue, accidents and improve efficiency. 
  • Review and update SOPs for safety and operational enhancements. 
  • Provide in-house consulting services for matters of Train the Trainer and Safety. 
  • Create and review training programs for each functional area of the DC. 
  • Additional duties as assigned.
