The Role:
Our site in Burnet, TX is seeking a Scientist II, Analytical Chemistry to join our team. Help analyze and characterize the materials that help design, deliver, and optimize some of the most critical semiconductor devices in the world. We are seeking a Scientist II with in-depth knowledge of analytical chemistry and techniques that can troubleshoot, develop, and optimize analytical methods for routine and non-routine QC analysis to support the Manufacturing and Engineering Teams. Due to the complex nature of sample matrices, this opportunity allows the right person to expand upon their technical skill set and participate on a dynamic team in a growing organization.
What You’ll Do:
Prepare and conduct chemical and/or physical analyses as defined by existing work instructions on routine and non-routine samples using analytical instruments including: ICP-MS, ICP-OES, GC, GC/MS, HPLC, IC, XRF, UV-Vis, NIR, KF, etc. (First Shift: generally, 8 am – 5 pm Monday through Friday, limited weekend and/or holiday coverage may be required based on business needs)
Document, process, transfer, and review analytical data to ensure completion, conformity, traceability, and validity and support production and other internal/external customer needs; take corrective action when necessary
Maintain instrumentation, tools, chemicals, and consumables required for product testing purposes
Effectively troubleshoot instruments and resolve any hardware or software issues
Verify the efficacy of samples and ensure that all samples and chemicals are properly stored or disposed
Lead projects and efforts to foster continuous improvement of new or existing testing methods and practices
Assist to ensure proper Laboratory cleanliness to support high quality trace-level data
Compile and present data and presentations to communicate data and other relevant information for continuous improvement, method development/validation, and other projects
Work on cross-functional teams as the analytical subject matter expert
Train other personnel to analyze samples or perform other laboratory tasks
Follow and improve safety guidelines and maintain a clean and orderly environment (5S Guidelines)
What We Seek:
Bachelor’s degree in Analytical Chemistry or relevant area of study
3-5 years of experience in operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining analytical instrumentation (LC, LC-MS, IC, IC-MS, GC, GC-MS, ICP-MS, ICP-OES)
