About the role

Overview

This is a full time position for a Medical Assistant in the department of Obstetrics & Gynecology, providing outpatient care for our patients and assisting our physicians in all clinical areas of the practice. Responsible for back office clinical functions.  Assists Physicians and Nurses with medical examination of patients.

 

Responsibilities

  • Takes vital signs such as height, weight, temperature, and blood pressure.  May draw blood and give injections under the immediate supervision of a Physician or RN. 
  • Chaperons and assists during examinations, minor surgeries, office procedures and diagnostic procedures. 
  • Maintains clean, well-equipped examination rooms; cleans and sterilizes instruments. 
  • Stocks examination rooms and triage area with medical supplies.  Inventories and reorders supplies.
  • Assist physicians, providers and nurses as a medical assistant in the daily care of our patients.
  • Prepares charts for the pending office appointment. 
  • Obtains and writes referrals, when appropriately trained and directed, and schedules outside appointments with specialists.
  • Ensures that appropriate data (i.e. Labs, medical records) are available prior to the appointment.

 

Qualifications

EDUCATION:  Completion of a Medical Assistant program and certification (RMA or CMA). Completion of BLS class and re-certify every 2 years.

 

KNOWLEGDE, SKILLS, ABILITIES: Customer service-oriented individual is required. 

 

EXPERIENCE: Experience with Obstetrics, Gynecology and Urology preferred.
