We are seeking a CO Sr. Medical Office Coordinator who will support retina faculty and their efforts regarding patient care, quality and operational improvement initiatives, and educational programs. Coordinates daily activities in a multi-faceted complex medical practice to ensure a smoothly functioning office and good patient relations. Provides direct support to clinical staff on operational and administrative tasks including those related, but not limited to templating, scheduling, registration, ordering, electronic medical record usage and special projects. Serves as a resource in a team-focused environment. Addresses patient questions and concerns. Resolves issues promptly and accurately. Uses electronic medical record system to document all interactions.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Acts as a resource for physicians, patents and colleagues.
- Provides quality service and support in a variety of areas, which include scheduling, registration, and care coordination.
- Provides operational metric measurements, gathers data, and generates reports for distribution.
- Coordinates administrative services for trainee education program.
- Assists clinic personnel in scheduling and rescheduling patient appointments as needed.
- Addresses complex situations based on knowledge of Retina division needs such as working with VIP patients, international patients, and donors.
- Coordinates all parts of complex patient visits including evaluations, testing, as well as pre- and post-op visits, including visits that require coordination among multiple lines of service.
- Participates in tasks needed to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Assists with faculty and clinical trainee calendar management, including scheduling meetings and other faculty engagements.
- Coordinates business travel arrangements.
- Executes business reimbursement requests.
- Using SAP, orders office supplies as directed.
- Assists with conferences and workshops.
- Uses various software applications to assemble and format data for distribution.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or graduation equivalent.
- Three years progressively responsible medical office experience. Medical terminology required. Intermediate computer and proofreading skills required. Experience in the Johns Hopkins system strongly preferred.
- Additional education may substitute for up to one year of required experience to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two years of college or equivalent work experience.
- Two years of related ophthalmology/JHH system work experience is strongly preferred.
- Additional education may be substituted for years of experience.
- Knowledge of medical insurance coverage is preferred.
- Medical terminology and average computer skills are preferred.
