Position Summary:
The Field Service Engineer (FSE) is a field based customer facing role that includes installing, servicing, maintaining, and implementing field corrective actions to the BD Life Science equipment at our customer sites in the clinical and research laboratories. BD has built a customer centric organization and our Field Service Engineers represent the face of BD to our Customers.
The ideal FSE will approach customer communication in logical and methodical way, applying patience and understanding as well as technical expertise in their day-to-day interactions.
The Field Service Engineer reports to the District Service Manager and works directly with the district Team Lead to obtain formal instrument training and field based OJT for certification on BD products. This position must align with all Quality, GMP, ISO and safety regulations and adheres to company travel policies.
Responsibilities:
Provide service, preventive maintenance, modifications and installations of BD Lifesciences equipment at Customer sites with minimal supervision.
Solve system failures and provide on-site customer repairs; responsible for delivering both timely and effective repairs.
Manage company assets including, cell phone, computer, tablet, tools, inventory parts, etc.
Establish and foster positive business relationships with customers and peers
Perform administrative duties including, but not limited to, recording time worked, training, expense reporting, etc.
Provide ongoing feedback to customers in regards to instrument repair and status.
Interfacing regularly with the Technical Support organization in order to provide the highest level of customer support
Work closely with district team leads and dispatch to schedule and support customer base.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associates degree in electrical, mechanical or similar engineering or Biomed program. Equivalent Military training acceptable.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and have experience applying computer based tools for reports, email and general communication.
Has worked in previous role with demonstrable experience installing, servicing, maintaining, and implementing corrective actions to equipment and systems.
Previous experience with the flexibility working both individually and in team settings.
Previous experience in customer facing/service roles collaborating with customers, peers, and support personnel apply excellent verbal and written communication skills. .
Willingness and ability to work different shifts, on-call, nights and weekends in case of need.
Understanding of basic computer security concepts and standard processes.
Previous experience handling unforeseen customer needs or issues using Good problem-solving and critical thinking skills
Has and maintain a valid state-issued driver's license with at least 3 years of driving history and meet BD's auto safety standards.
Flexibility to travel up to 50% of time outside of home geographic area, based upon business needs.
Must be able to lift up to 30lbs frequently and up to 70lbs infrequently
Must be able to handle standing, bending and stooping over a prolonged period of time (up to 10 hours)
Must be able to push/pull materials up to 100lbs
Adhere to all PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) standards/guidelines required by company policy.
Preferred Qualifications:
Computer Networking, Computer science, or engineering experience/education.
Previously held a Field Based role - familiar with Field structure

- $35+ based on experience.
