MERMAID Front End React.js Developer

Qualification Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree
• 3-5 years of experience, including demonstrated portfolio of software the candidate has produced, ideally with access to code.
• Proficiency in frontend technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks like React, Angular, or Vue.js.
• Experience with data visualization libraries such as D3.js or Plotly.js and a thorough understanding of data structures and formats.
• Experience in developing chart- and map-based visualizations.
• Experience with maintaining ongoing platform systems, keeping libraries up to date, managing separate development and production environments, handling large numbers of unit tests, and minimizing regressions.
• Strong understanding of full product architecture, including API and database layers.
• Ability to work with general requirements and minimal supervision, demonstrating strong problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with Git.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Passion for open-source development and making a positive impact on the environment.

Preferred Requirements:

• At least 3-5 years’ experience with database systems, particularly PostgreSQL.
• Knowledge of geospatial analysis (GIS), and tools such as Leaflet or Mapbox.
• Strong understanding of RESTful APIs and web services, especially Django and the Django REST Framework.
• Familiarity with cloud resources and orchestration, particularly using AWS.
• Ability to create and maintain CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience working in an Agile development environment and integrating workflows within project management systems like Trello.
• Understanding of scientific data and experience working with conservation or environmental organizations.
