The Terumo Europe Training and Professional Education department provides product training to both internal and external stakeholders and supports the marketing and sales function with the training of new hires, the upskilling of existing associates, the organisation of workshops and distributor training. The team has 3 trainers with a specific focus on Interventional Oncology, Access and Closure and Cardiology and Peripheral Interventions.
Job Summary
The European Product Training Manager Cardiology & Peripheral Interventions is responsible for the development and execution of the Therapeutics training strategy and the translation of this strategy into training actions and materials for the business unit, branches and distributors.
In this role you report to the EMEA Training and Professional Education Director, Cathy De Grove and you will be supported by Laurent Knapen, transitioning from Training Manager into the role of Professional Education Manager.
Prior experience with and understanding of the Cardiology and/or Peripheral portfolio (Stents, Catheters, Sheaths, Guidewires, ...) and Cathlab procedures (either as sales or medical staff) is absolutely required to be considered for the position.
We prefer to hire a Belgium based candidate to facilitate trainings in our Leuven based HQ and closely interact with the Professional Education team. We do encourage applications from outside Belgium, if the candidate is able and willing to travel up to 70% with high flexibility.
Job Responsibilities
Product knowledge
• Extensive knowledge of Terumo and competitor products.
• Position Terumo products as solutions for peripheral and cardiology intervention (therapeutic) procedures and translate product training in marketing directed training
• Continuously update product and industry knowledge through clinical papers, competitor websites, congress attendance (selected) and physician interactions
• Translate clinical data into training with cooperation of the European Medical and Clinical Department
• Provide cross portfolio foundation for professional education
Strategic Training Support
• Identify business unit and branches training needs to develop successful, competent sales teams (80% new joiners) including continuous evaluation of Interventional Systems Therapeutic clinical and technical competency levels of the Terumo EMEA sales force
• Develop training strategy aligned with the Therapeutics marketing plan/priorities
• Build training strategy for the distributor training (with the sales organisation), which is based on the focus products and strategic objectives for the business
Delivery of training
• Organize and coordinate Therapeutics training programmes for new joiners
• Develop and implement a curriculum for continuous training that is tailored for countries and rep expertise
• Adapt training sessions to specific needs of distributors
• Prioritise and co-ordinate training needs with business unit, branches and Distributor Markets
• Deliver training sessions in Leuven HQ and local offices
• Provide feedback to business unit and branches about training and development of the trainees
• Monitor and evaluate each training programme. If necessary, adapt the training to changes occurring in the work / market environment
• Work closely with other Trainers within the team to develop and deliver a cohesive and comprehensive training programme that brings together the full Terumo Interventional portfolio
• Lead simulator sessions with internal and external customers, and develop didactic simulator sessions where relevant
• Manage training programmes within budget
• Ensure all assessments and certificates are in line with quality and compliance procedures
Develop the training department
• Collaborate with Marketing/Product managers to include marketing portfolio messages in product training
• Perform regular needs assessments with both sales and marketing to identify training needs/gaps and develop trainings to close those gaps
• Apply soft skills training principles into product training such as role plays, features/advantages/benefits, customer profiling and selling techniques
• Present new ideas for training and presentations or tools to keep training centre in touch with technology advances, enhancing Professional Education
