Washburn Center for Children serves nearly 4,800 children ages 0-18 and approximately 11,000 family members each year. Washburn Center’s three office locations – Brooklyn Park, Edina, and Minneapolis – serve the entire Twin Cities metro area. The nonprofit also offers in-home services, and its school-based program serves 55+ schools in the Eden Prairie, Bloomington, District 191, Columbia Heights and Minneapolis school districts.

Position Summary The Columbia Heights Anchor program is a blend of mental health services and individualized education. Our School-based Therapist will provide embedded (Level III) classroom services and school-based mental health assessment, treatment, and prevention services to children and families as well as consultation and training for school staff at the middle school within the Columbia Heights School District. Provide both direct billable services and non-billable training, consultation, and early intervention/prevention services. Participate in meetings and coordination with Washburn Center and school teams. Collect and assess data on client progress. Independent Licensure at LICSW, LPCC, LP, or LMFT preferred. Skilled in children’s mental health diagnostic assessment and treatment.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical Treatment - Clinicians will provide a combination of the following school-based services within the school, clients’ homes, and across the community, as agreed upon with the school staff and the Washburn Center supervisor, including:
a. Facilitate social skills groups - facilitate social skills group in the classroom setting as defined by student's IEP; Setting is self-contained classroom with up to 8 students (2 groups daily).
b. Provide individual and family Therapy- Conduct diagnostic assessment- Develop and implement a treatment plan with the family based on a diagnosis- Engage parents and families in the learning space or therapeutic process with a culturally responsive framework- Participate in IEP meetings- Care coordination, including collaboration with psychiatrists and other professionals working with the child- Create a discharge plan- Build a positive and engaging social and emotional learning environment that also embraces pluralism and multiculturalism
Ancillary Services - Clinicians will also provide ancillary services as agreed upon with the school staff and the Washburn Center supervisor, including:- Provide care coordination, including collaboration with parents, school staff, and other agencies- Participate in classroom observations- Provide teacher consultation and training- Attend collaboration and planning meetings with school staff, program directors, and grant coordinators to review the status of the program and manage referrals to facilitate program development and the coordination of the program at the school
