About the role

Careers that change lives start here. Medtronic is a global leader in healthcare technology with a Mission to alleviate pain, restore health, and extend life. Our 95,000 employees work across more than 150 countries to put patients first — developing innovative medical technologies that improve the lives of 72+ million patients each year. Your unique talents will help shape the future of healthcare while building a career grounded in purpose, growth, and impact.

A Day in the Life

This Senior Business Process Improvement Manager role is a strategic investment that replaces fragmented ownership with dedicated leadership in three critical areas: RPM Board execution, systems automation, and forward-looking strategic planning. It directly supports priorities around automation, better visibility, and more efficient operations while positioning the RPE organization to handle increasing scope and complexity more effectively. This role is critical to improving operational efficiency, reducing reactive work, and enabling more strategic management of the growing sustaining workload within RPE.

At Medtronic, we bring bold ideas forward with speed and decisiveness to put patients first in everything we do. In-person exchanges are invaluable to our work. We are working onsite a minimum of 4 days per week as part of our commitment to fostering a culture of professional growth and cross-functional collaboration as we work together to engineer the extraordinary. This role will require less than 10% of travel to enhance collaboration and ensure successful completion of projects.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

RPM Board & Process Leadership

  • Own and facilitate the RPM Board, including intake, triage, prioritization, and resource allocation for sustaining and released product work
  • Partner with functional leaders to drive consistent, transparent prioritization and decision-making
  • Ensure the RPM process effectively supports both large projects and lower-level sustaining activities

Systems Improvement & Automation

  • Lead the RPM automation initiative, including transition from current tools (SmartSheets) to Microsoft Forms and automated Power BI dashboards
  • Drive integration with MAP Agile to reduce manual data entry and improve project visibility
  • Build and maintain real-time dashboards that provide leadership with clear insight into workload, capacity, and project status

Strategic Planning & Demand Management

  • Develop and own forward-looking resource and labor loading models for the RPE organization
  • Support AOP planning with improved visibility into capacity, demand, and gaps
  • Create a proactive framework for geo expansions, including early identification of regulatory, quality, and resource requirements
  • Improve CAPA tracking, workload visibility, and cross-functional workflow management

Operational Excellence & Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Identify and implement process improvements that increase efficiency and reduce ad-hoc work
  • Standardize reporting and create scalable processes that reduce burden on RPE leadership and engineering teams
  • Partner with Quality, Regulatory, Operations, and Finance to align priorities and remove friction in cross-functional execution

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with RPM (Released Product Management) or similar sustaining engineering governance processes
  • Prior experience with automation of project management tools and dashboard development (e.g., Power BI, Smartsheet, Agile systems)
  • Medical device industry experience, particularly with regulatory and quality processes (MDR, CAPA, geo expansions)
  • PMP or equivalent project management certification
  • Experience supporting AOP planning and strategic resource forecasting
  • Experience driving automation or tool implementation

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field
