Summary: Under the general direction of senior level engineering staff, conceptualize and apply complex solutions and designs to common mechanical engineering problems associated with high volume golf ball manufacturing. These include the use of high-speed automation solutions, close tolerance parts and machine assemblies and engineering testing and analysis. Working generally within the project team, assist, and at times, coordinate the fabrication, installation, startup and testing as well as performance analysis in the production environment. Concepts, to functional testing, through final design and documentation, will be performed using the full capability and capacity of advanced engineering development tools including Solid Works3D Modeling, HP Thermal Analysis Systems as well as Cognex In-Sight Vision systems for Engineering Testing and inspection.
Responsibilities:
- With relative independence, provide complex mechanical solutions to common mechanical problems using various tools such as Solid Works, Autocad and various testing equipment, either separate or within a project team environment. Work with vendors to fabricate and assist with the installation and testing of the final engineered solution.
- Assist Engineers in the fabrication startup and testing of various production automation equipment.
- Provide training and technical assistance to plant maintenance, operators, and technicians.
- Develop final equipment documentation, complete maintenance procedures, fabrication and parts drawings and assist with operator training manuals.
- Participate in generating and implementing suggestions and ideas for companywide automation and process improvement goals.
Requirements:
- High School, associate degree, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 10 year’s experience in complex mechanical design development with proven ability, equipment fabrication, installation, startup and testing of high-volume automated golf ball equipment. At least 3 years must have been within the mechanical design environment using advanced engineering tools such as 3D Modeling and common engineering testing equipment.
- Must be proficient with complex computer software including: Soldworks 3D Cad and Modeling, Autocad, Cognex In-Sight Vision Test Equipment, HP Thermal analysis, and data collection systems as well as common engineering test equipment.
