We are seeking a highly experienced Director/Sr. Director with a strong background in developing and executing biomarker strategies for early clinical trials in oncology. In this role, you will work with Research and Development scientists to identify, develop and validate assays for pharmacodynamic, tumor response, and patient stratification biomarkers to support Scorpion’s precision oncology portfolio. The candidate will also contribute significantly to translational research activities to support oncology programs from the preclinical stage through clinical development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify relevant biomarkers for Discovery programs and design and execute biomarker-driven clinical trials
  • Serve as an individual contributor and senior-level representative on Development teams to integrate, influence and deliver biomarker strategies to key programs from initial concept to execution, data delivery and results interpretation
  • Manage and oversee contract research organizations, and other partners in the field of biomarker assay development
  • Lead the development and validation of biomarker assays for clinical use, including proficiency testing, analytical validation, and clinical validation
  • Establish and oversee quality control procedures related to biomarker analysis
  • Analyze biomarker data and generate reports to support clinical decision-making
  • Communicate biomarker data to internal stakeholders, external partners, and regulatory authorities
  • Participate in the preparation of regulatory submissions related to biomarkers
  • Collaborate with clinical operations teams to implement specific biomarker and exploratory sample collection and analyses in all relevant clinical studies in selected programs
  • Design, oversee and manage internal and external research collaborations in areas of clinical technologies and translational research

Qualifications And Requirements

  • Ph.D. or equivalent in a relevant scientific discipline with expertise in cancer biology/experimental therapeutics and 6+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry, with a focus on oncology biomarker and translational science
  • Deep knowledge of biomarker discovery and development in clinical trials, including assay development, validation, and data analysis
  • Demonstrated experience in leading clinical biomarker development for innovative early clinical development
  • Demonstrated experience in leading cross-functional teams in the development and execution of biomarker strategies for clinical trials
  • Experience developing and executing companion diagnostic strategy within oncology would be preferred
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to generate scientific reports and presentations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
