Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Purpose of Position:
Support the Supply Chain activities as part of Project Supernova. These activities include supporting the Design, Build, Integration Test, Training, & post Go-Live support for implementing SAP in North American Fiber Manufacturing facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
• Understand and leverage the Corning internal Enterprise Business System (EBS) methodologies to successfully deploy an SAP solution for the Concord, NC and Wilmington, NC optical fiber plants.
• Develop SAP solutions that support global enterprise processes, data standards, and metrics while supporting the unique supply chain strategies within the optical fiber business.
• Ensure the system design provides all required business functionality to support existing supply chain operations. Leverage knowledge of existing legacy PeopleSoft business processes to ensure design gaps are eliminated prior to deploying the new solution.
• Populate the material master data files with required data to support a controlled transfer of data from the legacy business system to the new SAP business system; validate data transformation & business configuration at system Go-Live.
• Create detailed integration test scripts to document step-by-step supply chain business actions. Execute test scripts to surface deficiencies in new solution prior to deployment.
• Translate Test scripts into work instructions & training documents to support training pre/post Go-Live
Required Skills and Experience:
• Knowledge of Optical Fiber and Cable (OFC) PeopleSoft supply chain business process
• 2-years’ experience in production planning in optical fiber manufacturing
• 4-year college degree
Desired Skills:
• Working knowledge of the optical fiber manufacturing process from core through fiber processing
• Strong work ethic, “can do” attitude, and “roll-up your sleeves” mentality.
• Transparent, fact-based problem solver – oriented toward process, action, and results.
Travel Requirement: Minimal
This position supports immigration sponsorship.
The range for this position is $102,505.00 - $140,945.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
