Job Description

 

Job Title: Senior Unexploded Ordnance Supervisor (SUXOS) Division: Mission Technologies, Huntington Ingalls Industries Location: San Clemente Island

 

Job Overview: Mission Technologies, a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries, seeks a highly qualified candidate to serve as the Senior Unexploded Ordnance Supervisor (SUXOS). The SUXOS will lead and oversee all Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) and Range Coordination operations while managing personnel and ensuring compliance with safety standards. This role involves strategic planning, operational coordination, and technical expertise to support range operations and address munitions and explosives of concern (MEC).

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage site personnel, including operations and maintenance staff from both company and subcontractors, to achieve government-directed objectives and schedules.

  • Coordinate range operations with stakeholders, including the Range Control Office (RCO), range managers, and local commands, ensuring smooth communication and collaboration.

  • Develop and implement procedures for range coordination center activities, including inspections, risk assessments, surveys, and UXO operations.

  • Oversee the maintenance, repair, and operation of infrastructure, systems, and supporting equipment, ensuring efficiency and environmental compliance.

  • Direct work control, infrastructure planning, and resource management, including yearly workload and budget planning in partnership with headquarters.

  • Provide technical expertise in MEC-related activities, munitions safety, and risk mitigation strategies.

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable safety and quality standards for range and UXO operations.

  • Manage subcontractors and ensure alignment with project requirements.

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of relevant progressive experience, or Master’s degree with 4 years of relevant experience, or a high school diploma/equivalent and 10 years of progressive experience.

  • Graduate of a military Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) School from the United States, Canada, Great Britain, Germany, or Australia.

  • Certified UXO Technician-III (UXO-TI).

  • Completion of OSHA-compliant 8-hour Management and Supervisor Training (Section 1910.120(e)(4), Title 29 CFR).

  • Proven expertise in munitions response activities or
