What you'll do...

Position: Senior Data Scientist 

Job Location: 860 W. California Avenue, Sunnyvale, CA 94086 

Duties: Research and develop online machine learning models and systems to power personalized online shopping experiences. Develop explore-exploit and reinforcement learning based models deployed at various touchpoints on the website, including optimizing for defined business metrics as well as optimal customer experience. Ensure timely updates of ML system models. Build sophisticated performance tracking systems and ML based tools to detect data inaccuracies, model defects, and anomalous errors in production pipelines. Implement large-scale systems leveraging distributed systems, graph-based models, and GPU based technologies to ensure that complex machine learning powered models can be served without compromising the website performance. Use historical data leveraging customer datasets to identify customer insights. Build statistical models on petabytes of data to build and evaluate hypotheses which positively influence incremental revenue and customer growth for Walmart. 

Minimum education and experience required: Master’s degree or equivalent in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 1 year of experience in an analytics related field; OR Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 3 years of experience in an analytics related field. 

Skills required: Experience programming in one of the following scripting languages: Python, R, PhP, Shell, or JavaScript. Experience building data pipelines for collecting and managing data sets using MySQL, Hive, Hadoop, Spark, Cassandra, and Kafka. Experience with data mining, natural language processing, and information retrieval. Experience implementing machine learning, deep learning, and reinforcement learning models including Random Forest, Gradient Boosting, SVM, CNN, and RNN using tools including Tensorflow, PyTorch, Keras, Sklearn, and H2O. Experience using the Version Control Software Git to track, review, organize, and maintain source code. Experience with probability, statistics, and data analysis techniques including regression, P values, hypothesis testing, probability distributions, and multivariate analysis. Experience developing with cloud-based environments including Azure and Google Cloud Platform. Experience with MySQL and NoSQL. Experience with mathematical optimization and algorithm design. Employer will accept any amount of experience with the required skills. 

Salary Range: $170,186/year to $286,000/year.  Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives.   Additional compensation for certain positions may also include: Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location) and Stock equity incentives.
