Job Description

In this role, you’ll be responsible for helping to design front-end interfaces for our clients.  The ideal candidate must maintain technical proficiency with at least one dashboarding software and familiarity with a second. Leveraging your experience performing in a client-facing, you will help define user needs and define successful user interfaces.  As a business intelligence analyst, you will also work with the client and other developers to ensure the user is always at the center of our design process. 

A business analyst should have a general understanding of business needs and an expert in at least 2 of the following (listed in order of preference): Dashboard development (PowerBI, Tableau, or Qlik); Client needfinding; UI/UX design (webpages, reports, etc); Data ETL (Extract transform load) techniques; Cloud based dashboards; Responsive dashboards; Python programming. 

Responsibilities:

• Understand client needs and expected behavior for the end user through CRISP-DM approach.
• Ensure that the user remains at the forefront of design decisions.
• Develops visuals including wireframes, prototypes, and final dashboards/reports.
• Applies in-depth understanding of concepts and procedures within own area and basic knowledge of other areas to resolve issues that have impact beyond own area.
• Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of how areas of data analytics collectively integrate to contribute to achieving business goals.
• Ensures essential procedures are followed and contributes to defining standards specifically in areas of UI/UX.
• Persuades and influences others through communication and diplomacy skills; may negotiate with external parties.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in data analytics
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, or another analytical field.
• 3+ years of experience developing custom dashboards or reports for end users.
• Certifications or demonstrable past performance in dashboard development.
• Understanding of user centered design and history of developing end user interfaces, reports, or dashboards.
• Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) with technical and non-technical audiences, specifically briefing senior decision makers.

Preferred:

• Experience with cloud-based dashboards for end users.
• Experience developing visuals with GIS data.
• Master's degree in related field.
