EMPLOYMENT SPECIALIST-Social Services FT 8 AM - 4:30 PM, M-F

Summary:

Employment Specialists assist clients in assessing, choosing, obtaining and maintaining competitive employment integrated within the community.  Responsible for building productive relationships within the business community. Provides direct vocational support to individuals in regard to employment and educational strategies.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Establishes effective communications between community educational and employment services
• Develops vocational strategies consistent with the IPS Supported Employment Model
• Participates in client centered planning such as career or educational planning
• Works monthly with the Bureau of Rehabilitation Services on client referrals and providing long term supports
• Assesses job compatibility for individuals and provides training to clients in job readiness and job coaching
• Enrolls participants in educational programs suited to their needs
• Provides direct care to clients and completes documentation according to the agency standard
• Attends weekly staff meetings, as well as weekly/bi-weekly one on one supervision with the Manager of Rehabilitation Services
• To be able to provide transportation of clients and must have a valid driver’s license and insured vehicle
• Refers clients to state benefits counseling to clients as needed
• Builds relationships with various employers in the community to establish potential jobs through advocacy

Requirements

Education &/Or Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree (preferred) or 5 years of vocational rehabilitation experience or community service delivery in the behavioral health field.
