Position Summary:
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Quality Engineer to join our team in the hydraulic manufacturing industry. This role will focus on direct interaction with customers to ensure product quality, resolve issues, and continuously improve our quality performance and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will serve as the key quality liaison between our organization and our customers, especially in handling complaints, audits, and technical support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work in a safe manner, adhere to safety rules and requirements, and promote safe working practices.
- Act as the primary quality contact for customer-related issues, including complaints, non-conformances, and audits.
- Lead root cause analyses and implement corrective/preventive actions (8D, 5Why, Ishikawa) in response to customer concerns.
- Collaborate closely with production, engineering, and sales teams to ensure customer quality requirements are understood and met.
- Manage and respond to customer-specific quality documentation (PPAP, control plans, inspection reports, etc.).
- Support and participate in customer visits, audits, and quality reviews.
- Train relevant teams in the branch
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives internally based on customer feedback and quality data.
- Monitor and analyze quality KPIs, particularly customer PPM (parts per million) and delivery performance.
- Coordinate containment actions and communication during quality incidents.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and other relevant quality standards in customer-facing processes.
• Supervise Warranty Technicians and Shop Floor Inspection functions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or related field).
- Minimum 3 years of experience in quality engineering, ideally in the hydraulic, automotive, or mechanical components industry.
- Strong knowledge of quality tools (FMEA, SPC, MSA, APQP, PPAP).
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with customers.
- Experience handling customer audits and complaints.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and quality management systems (QMS); SAP or ERP experience is a plus.
- Fluent in English; additional language skills (e.g., German, depending on location) are an asset.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to customer sites.
