We offer a hybrid 3-2 work schedule (three days in the office, two days of teleworking) to accommodate the need for flexibility.

Military service members and veterans with ranks from E5-E9, W1-CW5, or O3-O6, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined below will be considered for this opportunity. 



 

 

Job Summary

This Electric Transmission SOC Operations Services Consultant would serve as the primary compliance consultant and liaison between the System Operations Center (SOC) and Electric Transmission Compliance. This role focuses on ensuring full compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements, including those from PJM, SERC, RF, NERC, and FERC. This individual will work closely with SOC subject matter experts (SMEs) for each requirement, providing oversight, guidance, and support to ensure all regulatory obligations are met or exceeded. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in compliance within the electric transmission or energy sector and the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

 

Primary Responsibilities:
• Serve as the SOC’s primary compliance liaison, ensuring alignment with all regulatory requirements and standards, including but not limited to PJM, SERC, RF, NERC, and FERC.
• Collaborate with SOC subject matter experts (SMEs) to clearly define roles and responsibilities for compliance requirements and ensure understanding and accountability.
• Provide guidance and oversight to ensure compliance requirements are met or exceeded, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
• Develop, review, and update compliance-related processes, procedures, and documentation to ensure adherence to regulatory standards and industry best practices.
• Act as a key point of contact between the SOC and Electric Transmission Compliance, facilitating effective communication and resolution of compliance-related issues.
• Lead efforts to prepare the SOC for audits, spot checks, and regulatory assessments, ensuring readiness and thorough documentation of compliance activities.
• Monitor changes in regulatory requirements and communicate updates to relevant stakeholders, ensuring the SOC remains proactive in addressing evolving standards.
• Evaluate and report on SOC compliance performance, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
• Provide compliance-related training and guidance to SOC personnel, helping to foster a culture of accountabilityand regulatory excellence.
• Work collaboratively with management, SMEs, and external stakeholders to implement and maintain effective compliance strategies and initiatives.
• Serve as a resource for compliance-related inquiries, audits, and investigations, ensuring accurate and timely responses.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Required:

  • 7+ years in Electric Transmission, System Operations and/or Power Generation in addition to a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalence in education in education and demonstrated related experience
  • Experience in compliance, regulatory affairs, or a related role within the electric transmission, energy, or utility sector.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks, compliance reporting requirements, and industry best practices for electric transmission operations.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate complex regulatory concepts effectively.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Strongly prefer in-depth knowledge of electrical theory, emergency procedures, substation equipment/operations, relay operations, and power station operations, as in pertinent to the transmission grid
  • Capable of performing difficult and complex work requiring advanced knowledge of the operation of the Bulk Electric System (BES)

 

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with PJM, SERC, RF, NERC, and FERC standards.
  • Advanced understanding of Bulk Electric System (BES) operations and SOC processes.
