Responsibilities

The Project Manager, Growth Initiatives & Strategic Partnerships will develop and execute detailed plans and timelines for the institutes research and educational strategic initiatives.  The position will support strategic planning and administrative coordination for a range of large-scale, institute-wide research programs that meet the goals and missions of the institute and university. Responsibilities will range from coordination of federally funded grant projects, supporting expansion of the Institute initiatives across Northeastern campuses, to facilitating collaborative research activities with both external partners. In collaboration with the Director and Exec Director, the Project Manager will develop and coordinate project plans and milestones and manage the execution of these plans to ensure all project goals are accounted for, program budgets are adhered to, and deliverables are completed. The position will also include: organizing and hosting meetings; presenting reports to provide project updates, including financial projections; coordinating workflow for documentation and reporting schedules; and assisting with other aspects of our scientific and creative work, as needed. The Project Manager will work closely with the institute’s researchers and administrative staff, as well as the university’s development, marketing, business and grants teams, as projects necessitate. The position will manage multiple complex projects in parallel, and requires an ability to adapt and learn as new challenges arise. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • 7+ years of years of full-time, or equivalent part-time professional experience working in relevant experience in outreach and partnerships, project management, business management, or in an administrative/operations capacity, in the public/private sector, preferably with knowledge of the academic research environment. 

  • A Masters degree in Business, Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, or a related field is required.

  • Proficiency with Google Suite, MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher), social media, webinar and other database platforms.

  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced environment with limited direct supervision and perform assigned duties in an accurate, organized, timely and professional manner, while maintaining attention to detail is essential. 

  • Must have experience managing and/or implementing strategic planning for complex projects from concept to completion, and demonstrate initiative, responsiveness, and thoughtfulness under tight deadlines. 

  • Excellent relationship building skills, with the ability to cultivate professional partnerships with internal and external contacts.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

Strategic Partnerships - 40%

  • Identify and recommend strategic global partnership opportunities.

  • Establish, grow, and manage existing and new strategic initiatives.

  • Create a scalable process for communicating and engaging with partners.

  • Represent Institute at meetings and act as a spokesperson.

  • Develop program proposals and strategy presentations.

Project and Financial Planning - 30%

  • Identify milestones and timelines for the institutes

  • Manage spending plans, monitor hiring and personnel expenses, prepare budget reports and financial forecasts.

  • Monitor reporting deadlines, support preparation of reports and presentations; coordinate input and shared documentation across collaborators and partners, intervening when necessary to ensure milestones and spending plans meet the project goals.

Communication Coordination - 30%

  • Schedule and organize in-person and remote meetings, prepare minutes and compile presentations for projects/studies, as needed.

  • Maintain correspondence, disseminate materials, monitor track follow-up exchanges across teams.

  • Serve as the point of contact for departments and units across Northeastern campuses, as well as external entities, such as media, industry partners and academic colleagues.

  • Create content for announcements and websites and assist with the distribution of materials to target audiences, as needed for special projects.
